In the January 2012 issue of Model Railroad Hobbyist I outlined a method of laminated photos onto styrene or illustration board cores instead of using paint.
A few tips:
- Use high quality, gloss photo paper
- Dull the paper with Dullcote or Krylon Preserve It. You’ll need to run a test sample as Dullcote will interact with some, but not most, printer inks.
- Life is much easier if you use a photo editing program that allows you to set the size you print out the image. Paint Shop Pro X is one such program
- Use 3M Super 77 as adhesive
Shown below are some images you can use to get you started.
